Proposal to add UCharacterIterator and UForwardCharacterIterator for =
code point iteration.
Expires: 11/7/2002
Motivation: java.text.CharacterIterator performs only code unit =
iteration and is limited to the BMP. This iterator is based on =
pre-increment semantics for next() operation and pre-decrement semantics =
for previous() opreation. This makes the iterator slow for certain =
operations. A new API is needed with post-increment semantics for next() =
operation and pre-decrement semantics for previous() operation, for =
performance reasons, which is capable of code unit and code point =
iteration.
