No... there is no mechanism to specify the page size by means of the
image size in the source document. Currently the client *must* specify
the page size for it to be sent as expected.

However, there is an "unlimited" page length option which will make the
"-s" size only influence the page width. So on some of my production
servers I do this in etc/FaxModify:

if [ "$unlimitedlength" = "yes" ]; then
    FIXEDWIDTH="-dAdjustWidth=$pagewidth"
fi

... and this works because I've patched Ghostscript:

http://bugs.ghostscript.com/show_bug.cgi?id=688064

That patch, however, does *not* handle document with multiple, varied
page-lengths in them (they'll all get sized to the same). I've not yet
resolved that matter.  See:

http://ghostscript.com/pipermail/gs-devel/2008-May/007776.html

Thanks,

Lee.
