sudo will run the program with root privileges as well. You should use
sudo when you leave your system for a while - then is it safer.

As far as I know, there will be xterm-color file in /etc/terminfo/x/.
I'm attaching one from my gentoo machine. I really don't know if it
will work. You can try or somebody will correct me.

Isn't ipkg better? You should also make your own cross-compile
environment, or install gcc on your ipaq. There are some informations
about that in hx4700 wiki.
