		   **** WDB 2.1 Beta I ****

The Wildebeest product team is happy to announce the availability
of the beta version of the upcoming wdb 2.1 release.

What's new ?

	2.1 beta version of wdb

o is based on gdb 5.0
            o loads upto 50% faster
o contains numerous defect fixes, particularly in the area of
              debugging threads.

What defects are fixed ?

The following is a (incomplete) list of defects fixed :

o Memory leak detection fails with a message "cannot detect leaks
in a Open Graphics application" even though the applications does
              not use Open Graphics.

o When a secondary thread forks, WDB reports a SIGTRAP and hangs on
              continue.

o Deleted breakpoints trigger in a multi-threaded program.

o WDB hangs or misbehaves shortly after the message Internal error :
              Continuing unhandled thread.

o WDB intermittently hangs or stops with a message: Program received
              SIGTRAP

o WDB fails to attach to a process when attach command is invoked
              with a process ID.

o WDB sometimes fails to attach to process if SIGTRAPs are disabled
              by all threads.

o kill command detaches multithreaded programs instead of killing.

o In a multithreaded program, breakpoints repeatedly (incorrectly)
              trigger.

o WDB may hang when the program being debugged receives a signal
              and it is continued.

How to download ?

Both 10.20 and 11.00 versions are available from www.hp.com/go/wdb
[This page can be slow to download. Please be patient.] It is packaged in
such a way to install in an alternate location by default. To use the 32 bit
debugger invoke the command /opt/langbeta/bin/gdb. For 64 bit debugger use
/opt/langbeta/bin/gdb64. This beta version does not support the GUI at this
time.

How to report problems ?

Send an e-mail to wdbbeta@cup.hp.com with a description of the problem,
along with a small test case to demonstrate the problem.

Thanks
Srikanth
