Noby,

The only drawback I see is that you introcude a problem when SHLIB_PATH is set
incorrectly. This can be particulary bad if (for 64-bit code) you use
LD_LIBRARY_PATH since both Sun and HP share the same variable. Sometimes users
set these variables in their profile on one platform and then screw up the other
platform (HP won't be happy with the libs in /usr/openwin/lib :-)
Other than that I can't see problems.
