Dear List,

One of my users got the error below when he tried to run a Fortran
program that output a huge file. Exactly 102400000 bytes were written to
the file, which makes it look like a (hopefully tunable) parameter has been
exceeded. The F77 manual was little help, saying "See the corresponding
File System Error".

*** FORTRAN I/O ERROR 956: FILE SYSTEM ERROR
    FILE: page4.red, UNIT: 22
FILE SYSTEM FUNCTION: _write, ERRNO: 0
    ERRNO MESSAGE: Error 0
( 0) 0xc21086a4 __io_ded + 0x3fc [/usr/lib/pa1.1/libcl.1]
( 1) 0xc20ffd54 __F90_END_IO + 0x7fc [/usr/lib/pa1.1/libcl.1]
( 2) 0xc2101034 FTN_E_WDUE + 0x14 [/usr/lib/pa1.1/libcl.1]
( 3) 0x000aba34 reduce + 0x7f8 [/gyp4/CGA/Bin/page4]
( 4) 0x000d6520 swepoc + 0x1a4 [/gyp4/CGA/Bin/page4]
( 5) 0x00094a90 rddata + 0x1a80 [/gyp4/CGA/Bin/page4]
( 6) 0x0007f4a0 _start + 0x1378 [/gyp4/CGA/Bin/page4]

This was produced on a J280 with a couple hundred megs of RAM and with
the maxdsiz, maxssiz, and maxtsiz kernel parms (among others) appropiately
increased. The output file in question is a direct access file.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find the problem?

TIA, and I will summarize,

Ed
