Subject:    [HPADM] SUMMARY: disk accounting fails on mod735/9.05

Problem:

/usr/lib/acct/dodisk reports filesystem is not an hfs filesystem,
and disk accounting is skipped when run from account 'adm' via cron.

Resolution:

The HP9000/735's running HPUX 9.0.5 we received had permissions of
the boot disk device files as follows:
  brw-------   1 root     sys        7 0x207600 Oct 18  1994 /dev/dsk/c207d6s0
  crw-------   1 root     sys       47 0x207600 Oct 18  1994 /dev/rdsk/c207d6s0

Since the program /usr/lib/acct/diskusg is SGID:
  -r-xr-sr-x   1 bin      sys        24576 Sep 22  1993 diskusg
account 'adm' which is not a group 'sys' member, was unable to run
the program.  

Once I changed the permissions on the disk device files to 640, disk
accounting runs fine.  

Note: Our HP9000/715's running HPUX 9.0.5 were delivered with group 'sys'
read permission enabled on these disk device files, so this is not a problem
on those systems!!!
