Leading 0's in IP AddressIf you add a leading 0 to the ip address then that part is \
considered as an octet number instead of a decimal. But before doing the traceroute \
or ping command that will be converted to a decimal number . In your case the \
equivalent decimal number of the octet 055 is 45. So it will try to trace the route \
to 45.xx.xx.xx. If you want to use the leading zero try using the octet number 067 \
which is equivalent to decimal number 55. eg; traceroute 067.xx.xx.xx , this will \
actually trace the route to 55.xx.xx.xx.

Subject: [HPADM] Leading 0's in IP Address
If I do a traceroute of 55.xxx.xxx.xxx
I see the following
55.xxx.xxx.xxx (55.xxx.xxx.xxx)
If I add a leading 0 to the ip address 055.xxx.xxx.xxx
I get the following results
055.xxx.xxx.xxx (45.xxx.xxx.xxx)
Why?
