It indeed is! So you're right suggesting "Authenticator (i.e., a part of 
WPA/IEEE 802.1X functionality in AP) could be using another MAC 
addressess than the BSSID of the AP."

By the way: I am not too sure if the Alcatel/Thomson Speedtouch 580 ADSL 
modem / wireless access point is used a lot. Here in the Netherlands one 
of the main ADSL providers is kind of giving it away for free; that 
might simply imply that Thomson wants to get rid of some old equipment. 
Browsing the internet for details mainly yields French and Dutch 
results; in computer stores one would, however, most probably find 
Linksys, Edimax, SMC en E-Tech access points.
