Topic #1: Agenda Bashing
---------------------------------------------------

Topic #2: hc.org feature development (Owner: Anand)
---------------------------------------------------
[ANAND] three phases
[ANAND] first phase - bug fix/infrastructure stabilization phase
[ANAND] second phase - plug ins
[ROBLA] link to the bug list:
https://bugs.helixcommunity.org/buglist.cgi?bug_file_loc_type=allwordssubstr&bug_statu \
s=NEW&bug_status=OPEN&bug_status=RESOLVED&bugidtype=include&chfieldto=Now&emailassigne \
d_to1=1&emailassigned_to2=1&emailcc2=1&emailqa_contact2=1&emailreporter2=1&emailsearch \
1=login&emailsearch2=login&emailtype1=substring&emailtype2=substring&field0-0-0=noop&l \
ong_desc_type=substring&newquery=1&product=community&product=community-private&short_desc_type=all
 [ROBLA] have a link on community page about the list of features
[GWRIGHT] site wide search
[RKOLLER] Migrate to GForge 4.x
kevinS, Simon and Rishi second the search requirement
[RYAN] Usability and site navigation
[MMALONEY] remember user login and have universal login feature
[PAUL] prefer search features and seconds navigation
[VIKRAM] customize home page, ability to personalize, wiki integration
milko and Rahul seconds search and wiki....
[HAYDON] most active discussions and conversations in the community,
monitoring mailing lists and forums
[GOWTHAM] search, navigation and more documentation
[GOWTHAM] Documentation -> class diagrams, object relations etc.
[RISHI] having a test site with helix server running where community
members can test their stuff with different content
[ROBLA] matt lapora already working on something similar -- we have a
test suite, content -- looking for the right place to host it
[ROBLA] this should be tracked as a feature -- might get resolved
without this teams intervention
[ROBLA] mailman integration (single sign in)

Topic #3: Taxonomy for component licensing
---------------------------------------------------
[ROBLA] Ryan has been working on componentizing the helix/real player
framework
[ROBLA] proposal for first category of stuff (licensed under RPSL, RCSL
& GPL) -- core / common / libre / nodist
[ROBLA] (Sharon's suggestion) baseline
[KEVINS] is this the same as (legal Dept's) DNA?
[ROBLA] yes
[RISHI] seconds DNA
consensus on name = DNA
[ROBLA] category 2 -- mp3 / AAC (licensed stuff)
[ROBLA] suggestion -> encumbered
[KEVINS] is this same as 'restricted'
[ROBLA] no .. this source code is available without and click-wraps
[ROBLA] restricted code needs some sort of R&D License
[MILKO] how does this definition co-exist with the earlier DNA
definition does this mean that mp3 and aac is not a part of the DNA?
while it is actually a part of the DNA
[ROBLA] we could have DNAbase & DNAencumbered
[ROBLA] RARV is not really part of the helix DNA
[MILKO] we could just have base and encumbered
[ROBLA] we do mix and match -- if mp3 is a part of DNA is a gray area
right now
consensus on dna-base and dna-encumbered as the 2 categories (so far)
[ROBLA] category 3 -- restricted code - have to sign AttG or similar to
get access to this - suggestions: restricted, extended, plus
[HAYDON] if plus nomenclature removes confusion -- then we should go
with 'plus'
[MILKO] does plus include rarv code repositories
[ROBLA] yeah
[MILKO] even tho they might be offered under different licensing terms
[ROBLA] yes
[ROBLA] this facilitates any new additions to the package
consensus on dna-plus
[ROBLA] 3 categories --> dna--base, dna-encumbered, dna-plus

Topic #4: Status of Linux ARM
---------------------------------------------------
[ROBLA] Latest effort has been by Rishi (RN) and folks from Motorola
[ROBLA] Linux-arm work on cayenne?
[RISHI] yes
[RISHI] Motorola ported the cayenne branch onto MonteVista Linux looking
good as far as image size is concerned
[RISHI] image size reduced 30% using Function Level Linking, and
documentation on this process released earlier
[ROBLA] using rlink tool for that -- which is released under the nightly
builds
[PAUL] not working on head or cayenne at this point
[PAUL] active on getting helix running for arms 7 or 9
[PAUL] testing / evaluating / running on various Intel / sharp processors
[ROBLA] we have put in a lot of work in substantial improvement in
distlib supports
[PAUL] yes, true
[ROBLA] one of the biggest challenges is that the possible compiler
nuances seem to be more prominent on arm platforms than other platforms
[ROBLA] mailing list (linuxarm-dev@hc.org) for more details and discussions

Topic #5: DEVELOPMENT ISSUES
---------------------------------------------------
[ROBLA] would it make sense to have an update on and dev efforts
[RAHUL] updates on feature additions -- specifically on the helix client
[PAUL] putting helix on a Sony portable devices (potentially a huge market)
[ROBLA] what is the chip set / os
[PAUL] SR400 @ 300 MHz, not sure of the OS
[ROBLA] not anything active for PS portable
[KEVINS] is this the place to talk about process road mapping?
[ROBLA] absolutely
[KEVINS] i would like to propose that -- for helix in general -
direction where the community is headed should be visible, anyone who
wants in implement a feature can go ahead and do it -- but the overall
picture should be evident
[ROBLA] helix-dna client in particular -- consists of a large team --
request Haydon / milko to provide a brief overview
[ROBLA] as far as real player -- Vikram / Ryan could speak to road map
issues
[ROBLA] server: Larry young, dean Collins
[ROBLA] producer -- sorin
[KEVINS] would be nice to have something similar to FireFox 2.0 -- would
be nice to see where the overall project is headed
[KEVINS] that way users and developers know what is going on
[ROBLA] for these kind of features -- look at helix-client project for
road map
[MLIKO] process by which any major feature into the helix framework can
be accepted and documented
