 Apparently a comment above was misunderstood. When I mentioned "build(ing)
 on the target platform" I was referring to the Haiku OS, not any
 particular hardware.

 And yes, as you say, building on the target hardware would be unusual for
 embedded devices. Not impossible but certainly unusual.
