Comment (by umiki):

 Same or similar thing happens on Toshiba Pro A100. Quite annoying, when
 warm booting (restarting the computer from Haiku) the POST (? - I don't
 think it does a drive search) never finishes. Computer can only be turned
 off by pressing power button for 4 secs, after that everything is fine
 again.
