Comment:

 Maybe I misunderstood this ticket... You can't update a running system
 with Installer. If you want to use the Installer, you should've done it
 the other way around: boot from the nightly and install it over your old
 alpha2. BUT. Alpha2 is gcc2hybrid, so installing a gcc4hybrid image over
 it could result in trouble.

 I suggest to boot the nightly and just copy over your data and config
 from the old alpha2.

 I'll mark this ticket "invalid". If I did misunderstand the issue, we can
 reopen it.
