the test is trying to connet to localhost, I don't think it gets
filtered out.

Looking through the test code a race condition could occur - and the
test would fail but with a different message if neither port 3333 nor
4000 would fail.

My guess is that your machine is faster than vmgump and the mock
server started by the test has actually come up before the client
tries to connect.
