Hi,

A modal window is a window that keeps other windows in your app from
receiving input. That is, the user will only be able to interact with the
modal dialog, not the rest of the app.

To make a window stay on top, try gtk_window_set_transient_for() (or
gnome_dialog_set_parent()) to tell the window manager which window is the
parent window. Most window managers will then keep the window on top.
