I am not sure if this will answer your question, but I noticed from the
error message that you are using the clang compiler.
There is a prior email thread ...

... where I asked about using Meson with Clang about halfway down the
thread. Nirbheek provided a great deal of information (including a list of
bugs) pertaining to bugs which are related to Meson + Clang
You might be running into one of those bugs but I'm not sure (I am not a
Mac user).
