To clarify whats going on...

You need to search for gps.py and fake.py. You can find them inside gpsd/gps
in the gpsd sources. These are the modules that python are looking for 
when you do 'import gps.fake'.

In other words gps.py and fake.py (and such) are installed when you install gpsd, but \
python is not finding it.

So you must add gps.py path to the python path. Again this path is controlled by \
PYTHONPATH variable and you can verify with sys.path (in python).
