Got another idea (night are cool things):

Merging libgphoto2_port and libgphoto2 altogether, as
libgphoto2_port is only used by libgphoto2. It would simplify
everything and would require to link to only one library. Also,
only one configure, one global .po file, one version, etc.

How to do it ?

* first, move libgphoto2_port's configure.in functions to main
  configure.in
* then, move libgphoto2_port to libghoto2's dir, maybe under the
  name "port"
* start crying out loud and adapt the building system.
