Here's an alternative way which i use to setup usb permissions so that i can
use gphoto2 as a normal user. Hans, maybe you can add this to the gphoto2
documentation.

Step 1) Add a group called usb (if not already exists)
	Command: "addgroup usb"
Step 2) Add the user, say johndoe, to the group usb (if not already in the
group usb.
This is distribution dependent. On debian I can do this as
"adduser johndoe usb"
On other distributions, you can do this easily by editing /etc/group and
adding "johndoe" to the line containing usb. For eg:
usb:x:1001:johndoe
Step 3) Note down the groupid of group usb. In the above case its 1001
Step 4) Edit /etc/fstab and add/edit the usb line as follows (Note devgid=1001
comes from the usb groupid)
usb /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs defaults,devmode=0660,devgid=1001 0 0
Step 5) Unmount usb and remount it
	Command: "umount usb; mount usb"
Step 6) Check permissions of usb. it should look something like below:
ls -l /proc/bus/usb/001
-rw-rw---- 1 root usb 18 Aug 23 18:51 001
Step 7) If you are logged in as user, logout and login
Step 8) Enjoy gphoto2

renchi
