I know we discussed this years ago, i still think it would be awesome if we
could integrate the forums and the mailing list together... not sure how
that would work though

Thanks for your prompt reply.
> > >
> > > The thing is that the 014.01 ISO does not contain a partition
> > > tool, so when I run it within a virtual machine I am stuck,
> > > because I cannot partition the disk before installation.
> > It has GParted (and regular Parted). There should be a link right on
> > the desktop even, I think. You can also partition and format the
> > drive in advance if you don't want to use those for some reason.
> > It's possible to install packages inside the live CD environment
> > too, for if you want to use fdisk or such from the inside.
> > > I like very much the Gobolinux concept, but I am particularly
> > > interested in Rootless Gobolinux, because, I hope, it lets me
> > > have the reliability of Gobo within any Linux distribution.
> > >
> > > Just one question, if you please, regarding Rootless Gobolinux:
> > > once the Rootless Environment has been created by the script, is
> > > each application directory completely independent and
> > > self-reliant? What I mean is: are all the relative links, after
> > > the creation of the Rootless Environment, pointing to locations
> > > included in one and the same self-sufficient environment,
> > > independent of the libraries of the host operating system? Or, on
> > > the contrary, does the installed Rootless system still rely on
> > > the hosting system and still have specific ties (e.g. file paths)
> > > to files and libraries on the host operating system? My wish
> > > would be to create a self-sufficient sub-system that is
> > > independent of the host OS, and I hope that Rootless Gobolinux
> > > will allow me to do that.
> > All links are within the environment. Things still depend on the
> > host environment because that's where the C library comes from at
> > least, and if you want other libraries can be used from there as
> > well. Those will be loaded dynamically, so there shouldn't be any
> > actual file path dependencies. You can build almost everything
> > inside Rootless if you want, but libc and the kernel will come from
> > the host. -Michael
