You can, use 

    GrFreqXlatingFIRfilter::setCenterFreq

FWIW, I find gdb under emacs my tool of choice (but then again I
know how to drive emacs).  gdb from the command line is pretty much of
a bear, since you don't get the context automatically displayed.  
I haven't played much with ddd.  People say nice things about it.
