The documentation is perhaps not as clear as it should be, but the
intent is
   set hidden
   splot 'foo' with lines,  'baz' with lines nohidden
or just
   splot 'foo', 'baz' nohidden

I.e., the "nohidden" attribute is not a plot style, it is a modifier to
the plot command proper.

That said, yes it seems to be broken in both 4.2.2 and cvs although in 
different ways.  It does work for "with points", however.
I suppose that's a clue.
