This is an automatic notification generated by Dartmouth College's
e-mail system. A file which appears to have been sent from your e-mail
account may be infected by a computer virus. The name of this file is
"/opt/MailScanner/etc/reports/en/sender.virus.report.txt". Our virus scanning \
software rejected this file for the following reason:

> > > Virus 'W32/Sobig-E' found in file your_details.zip/details.pif
.

The message to which this file was attached was:

  To: info-gnuplot-beta@dartmouth.edu
  Subject: Re: Application
  Date: Thu Jun 26 21:12:54 2003

The file that was attached to the message was deleted and text was
appended to the e-mail message explaining that a file was removed and
why. The original e-mail text, along with the appended notice, was
then sent to the intended recipient. Please see
http://www.dartmouth.edu/~helpdesk/policies/virus.html for additional
information about this procedure.

One of the following things may have happened to cause this:

1) You sent a message with a file attached to it and the file was
infected with a virus;

2) Your computer is infected with a virus and it automatically sent an
infected file to e-mail addresses it found on your computer without
your knowledge.

3) Someone else's computer is infected with a virus and their computer
sent a message with an infected file, but your email address was forged
as the sender of the message.

4) You sent a harmless file which was inadvertently flagged as being
infected with a virus. An example of this would be if you gave the file
a name that is something commonly associated with viruses.

If you have a virus detection program on your computer, it should be
updated with the most current list of virus definitions. We suggest
updating your virus definitions daily, and also scanning your
computer's hard drive for viruses weekly. Please see
http://www.dartmouth.edu/~helpdesk/finding/troubleshooting/viruses.html
for additional information on protecting your computer from viruses.

If you do not have a virus detection program on your computer, we
strongly urge you to purchase one. Users outside of Dartmouth should
contact their own internet service provider's computing support office.
Faculty, staff and students at Dartmouth can purchase Symantec's
AntiVirus software at a significantly reduced price from Computer Sales
and Service. The Store can be reached at 646-3249.

Dartmouth users can obtain additional assistance by calling the
Computing Help Desk at 646-2999 or their division's computing support
office.
