Hi,

to the guy asking about symbols in gnuplot, you could
use latex or postscript terminals. So all the maths
mode stuff from latex is available along with the
characters from the postscript fonts. 

set term latex should work in the latest gnuplot (It's
always worked for me). maybe it's just not installed properly.
