I am pretty sure that I once made that experience.  Not necessary on
GNU/Linux, though.

I have no NFS at had but a quick test on CIFS shows

bind(3, {sa_family=AF_FILE, path="/somewhere/xppro-c/tmp/foo.S"}, 31) = -1 EPERM 

(AF_FILE is an alias for AF_UNIX).
