We are pleased to announce a new stable GNU mcron release: Version
1.0.4.

GNU mcron is a replacement for Vixie cron written in guile and taking
guile job specifications (as well as Vixie-formatted ones) for increased
flexibility. It can be installed either on top of, or alongside of, an
existing cron installation. Separate instances can be run by users
without needing any root privileges or root-sticky files, thus there is
no compromise on system security.

The project page of the program is available at:
  http://www.gnu.org/software/mcron/

What's New
==========

* License update to GPLv3

* Files named on the command line don't need a .vixie or .guile
extension (such files were previously silently ignored)

* The arguments to the --schedule option are no longer optional.

Getting the Software
====================

GNU mcron may be downloaded from ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/mcron.

Here are the GZIP compressed sources (4.8MB):

  ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/mcron/mcron-1.0.4.tar.gz

Here is the OpenPGP detached signature:

  ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/mcron/mcron-1.0.4.tar.gz.sig

In order to check that the version of GnuTLS which you are going to
install is an original and unmodified one, you should verify the OpenPGP
signature. You can use the command

     gpg --verify mcron-1.0.4.tar.gz.sig

This checks whether the signature file matches the source file. You
should see a message indicating that the signature is good and made by
the signing key with DSA ID 31182342.
