I'd like to thank you all for your input into my problem.  I went back
to "square one" and read the libglade tutorial and it worked!  I know
this sounds REALLY dumb to be saying all of this, but I dunno.  It just
clicked.  I'm not saying i won't have problems in the future, but I am
saying that I am able to get programs created using libglade!
