I had this problem with everything up through and including the 99.8
stuff, I also reported this on the list and received a reply that it had
been fixed. A couple days back I upgraded to the 1.0.x stuff and can
now verify that it has been fixed or at least it works here and my saved
settings are loaded when starting a new session.
I usually nuke my installed gnome tree when doing a major upgrade and
also my ~/.gnome directory. I noticed with the 1.x stuff some file
locations have changed, etc. maybe you could try moving your ~/.gnome
directory out of the way and starting fresh ?
