I made a RPM out of it (by adding some of the patches and addons in
glibc-2.1.1-7.src.rpm, have no newer SRPM at hand) and installed that on my
mostly Red Hat 6.1 system. Running some full day now.

Assorted details, for the curious:

- Intel P2/400, SR440BX board, 128Mb RAM
- Red Hat 6.1 + updates + several upgraded packages (kernel headers
  2.2.15pre9, binutils-2.9.5.0.27, rpm-3.0.4)
- Built with egcs-20000221
- --prefix=/usr --enable-add-ons --enable-omitfp
- CFLAGS='-O2 -march=i686 -mcpu=i686 -D__USE_STRING_INLINES'

Build a few things (fetchmail-5.3.0, make-3.78.91), no trouble up to here.
