Hello out there,

I'm a Gimp newbie (trying to use v1.0.0), so I've maybe overlooked
something:

Do we have a function to measure the area of a closed selection and/or
the length of a (type of) line? -- The point is, that one could start
to use Gimp with it's elaborate selection features for scientific
image analysis, at least on a basic level. You should have a "scale"
function (selecting some scale bar etc. in the picture and tell the
program that it would be of length 1 cm, e.g.), and afterwards there
should be a function "analyse" o.s.l.t. which gives the area etc. Like
with NHI Image on the Macintosh, if you know that. I think this should
be possible with the Scheme part of Gimp, but I think I can't do it
myself, at least not yet ;-)

Help & suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Ulf

P.S.: Having subscribed yesterday, I got several messages twice,
especially about sweets and mathematics. Not that I don't like
      chocolates ... ;-)
