Hi Peter,
Yes, gutenprint 5.2.10 should work on Mac OSX10.10.3, since it
supports the MX310 (how well I don't know, feel free to give us
feedback).
You'll need to read up on how to install 3rd party apps on MacOSX
post-Mavericks.
