Norman,
After some searching, I have only the advice that perhaps HPIJS HPLIP
using Macports may work for you. HPIJS (and I think HPLIP) does
support the HP 1050 J410 printers.
There is no completed port of HPIJS or HPLIP at the moment,
apparently, but several threads on how (possibly) to get HPLIP to
install.
HPIJS seems to be downloadable as a PPC package directly:
