NOTE: This release fixes a large number of high and critical priority
bugs. Most notably, it fixes a regression in the Epson driver that
slipped into 4.2.2-rc2, and it fixes a long-standing problem with page
width (margins were too wide) in the native CUPS driver. This may be
the last release candidate prior to 4.2.2. Please test this release
particularly thoroughly.

Gimp-Print 4.2.2-rc3, released September 3, 2002, is the third release
candidate for Gimp-Print 4.2.2.

This software includes the Print plug-in for the Gimp, and GhostScript
and CUPS drivers, including Foomatic data.

The Gimp Print plugin requires the Gimp 1.2.

The CUPS driver requires CUPS 1.1.9 or higher. 1.1.14 or above is
highly recommended, as certain translation-related bugs are fixed and
it is possible to print true CMYK.

The Ghostscript driver requires GNU Ghostscript 5.10, 5.50, 6.51, or any
later GNU Ghostscript release based on 6.51 (e. g. 6.52).

The IJS GhostScript plugin driver requires GNU Ghostscript 6.53 or later
or APFL GhostScript 7.04 or later.

Please read the README file for full instructions on building and
installing this package.

Gimp-Print 4.2.2-rc3 contains the following major changes over
Gimp-Print 4.2.2-rc2:

  1) A problem introduced in Gimp-Print 4.2.2-rc2 whereby printing to
Epson printers failed or produced otherwise incorrect results at
resolutions other than 360 DPI is fixed.

  2) A problem printing to a CUPS-spooled printer using the PS2 driver
in the Gimp plug-in is fixed.

  3) When using the native CUPS driver with a printer requiring
margins to the left and right, the right margin was previously
too wide. The margin is now correct.

  4) Margins have been corrected on Epson Stylus Color 660. All users
of this printer with any CUPS or Foomatic driver will need to
reinstall the printer queue after upgrading.

The following bugs have been fixed in Gimp-Print 4.2.2-rc3:

597964 Epson 660 wrong margins
599505 PS2 printing from GIMP broken with CUPS
600249 gimp-print output too narrow in CUPS
601637 Resolution set incorrectly

The following bugs are presently open in Gimp-Print 4.2.2-rc3:

538097 Poor quality printing on Canon s400
549677 Incorrect scaling on Canon BJC-1000
581168 BJC 250 just spits out pages
596538 Cutting on Epson Stylus Photo 925 does not work
599029 Fast printing not supported on Epson 950, 960
602933 Poor quality on Canon S800
603702 HP LaserJet 5L print is too light
