The Gimp-Team is working on an UI-Change with User-Interface-Experts.
It will not become an window in window interface but something better.
;) The first things will be visible in the next release (2.6) but
that's just the beginning. So the Gimp devellopers know the problem
and are looking for solutions.

P.S. Just copying Photoshop is not a very good solution.
