Additional note:
Under 2.4.7-10(RH), using gcc 3.0.3 the build fails for app/gimpbrush.c
Working with Michael Clement<mclement@playnetwork.com> we discovered a bad
prepocessor instruction in line 273 of app/gimpbrush.c 
Change from #if LINUX
to 	    #ifdef LINUX

The plug-ins Makefiles.  After you run configure, edit plug-ins/Makefile
and
delete the lines under "SUBDIRS" for these entries.
