Hi,

just a comment:

i tried to use the qlogic driver in 2.4.5, but imho the one
from qlogic was better. i don't know yet whether that changed
with Dmitry's driver, but i thought i share my experience:

- the vanilla driver cannot be used if you wnat to connect
directly to a storage device, it always tries to log in in L
mode, the driver from qlogic seems to have some autoprobing
features: in my environment it uses always the right mode,
independent of where i plug the cable in.
- it doesn't tell which mode F/L/.. it is using, you
have to look at the switch. the "native" qlogic driver is
  much more verbose.
- if you want to change the CONNECTION_PREFERENCE you have
to recompile the driver. i would expect at least making
use of an option for modprobe.

anyway, i still appreciated the fact that there was a driver
in the kernel which i could use somehow right away.
