I understand, which is why I suggested using the -r1 version, which is
what you ended up doing.

Timing of the news announcements can be tricky, a compromise between not
announcing too early and not leaving it until the last minute. In this
case, it should really have included the steps necessary to implement the
change now, as has been done with other news items.
