Yep. This appears to be a reoccurring issue. There are several bug reports
about it at different versions of nvidia-drivers. There's some talk of putting
the nvidia-settings binary back in the nvidia-drivers package, but apparently
nothing's happened on that front. I said the heck with it and ran:
autounmask media-video/nvidia-settings-260.19.29
The new version of nvidia-settings compiled without complaint and the 150
packages that were backdated are now all up to date.
