It is certainly related to ALSA somehow, but what updates are you 
thinking of? I doubt it is the last updates, since the change was 
between 2.6.14.7 and 2.6.15, which was a while ago. I have just looked 
at the diff between 2.6.14.7 and 2.6.15. I did not see anything obvious, 
but it is huge, so I may have missed something.

I have built a couple of kernels and see that it works fine when I boot 
with 2.6.14.7 or earlier and fails when I boot 2.6.15 or later.
