Sorry, a bit of info I left out of the first post, it's too early in the 
morning =)  If I start up X from the commandline, with startx, everything 
runs perfectly, both with KDE 3.1rc3, and Fluxbox. =\  So it's not X having 
problems, it starts just fine...
