Thanks - interesting, except I'm beginning to realise I also need the SCSI 
CDROM module in my kernel which is probably why I dont have any cd entries in 
lun0/  (only a 'generic').

Makes me feel highly stupid, why didn't I compile that in the first time...

Of course now I'm getting errors trying to compile the kernel...

dammit!
