I thought I had CC'd sparc people on this. Since
I am asking for thoughts concerning {sunffb, xaa, drm},
I really need to see that the people I am asking get
to read the question.

Regards,

I'll start on it as soon as today's crop of upgrades get taken care of and
a huge (non-Gentoo) build completes. If it works for me, I'll add ~sparc
to it.

The only patch I'm aware of that sparc might want but might not be present
is the 092_Xserver_sunffb_xaa_extension.diff which is said to be in
freedesktop's CVS but as of yesterday, not in released version.

This requires some feedback and advice from the sparc user base because:
1. sunffb definitely works better in general with it applied;
2. It disables DRM for Creator (ffb) graphics cards;
3. But we recently discovered a pretty bad (kernel related) problem with
  ffb+DRM if you happen to have two Creator cards present (unusual but
  certainly allowed. I'd have caught it much earlier, except that my
  system with two graphics cards has Creator+Elite. So, both are using
  sunffb, but only one of them uses DRM.)
