These should all be available in the portage tree shortly.

New Developers:

We've had three new developers join recently. ciaranm from the
gentoo-sparc team managed to accquire a Challenge S system and joined up
to pitch in on various things. He has plans to possibly try and get the
Mezz board to function, thus allowing access in linux to a faster scsi
bus and the RJ-45 adapter on this system.

The other new developers are geoman (Stephen Becker) and psi29a (Bret
Curtis), who will be assisting on Xfree86 and other Desktop related
stuff, since both actively run X on their Indy's, and have done some
rather inventive things with them. psi29a has even managed to get KDE
3.1 up and running, which is a feat for the older Indy's.

Cobalt Microserver support:

Cobalt support is still experimental, but slowly getting better. Using
the stages available on the mirrors in the experiment/mips folder, and
some trickery, it isn't too difficult to get a gentoo installation up
and running on these systems. For now, a stage3 is probably the only
possible method to install right now. I did not anticipate the older
debian netboot kernel to not support running mips3/mips4 binaries, so
this makes stage1 and stage2 installs a bit difficult. I have been
slowly working on a netboot/initrd setup, that has had some mild
success, but thanks to some feedback from a few users, still needs a
little more work.

Beyond that, these systems still run very well. Once the newer
bootloader is finished and released officially by its author, these
systems will finally be able to boot and run 2.6 kernels, and the
annoying ~676KB kernel size limit will be gone for good.

	Linux udun 2.6.3-mipscvs-20040218 #1 Sun Feb 22 22:09:02 EST 2004 mips
Nevada V10.0 FPU V10.0 Cobalt RaQ2 GNU/Linux <-- 13 days and still
kicking.

	That's all for now!
