Hello *,

I've just committed dev-lisp/gcl-2.6.15_pre3. It successfully compiles
such highly non-trivial things as maxima and fricas (though compilation
times are *very* long), and they work well. gcl is, probably, second to
sbcl with respect to speed (I mean the speed of the result of compilation,
naturally, not of the compilation process).

gcl is supposed to be very portable. Currently in Gentoo it is
~amd64 ~arm ~ppc ~ppc64 ~x86
In Debian, gcl is supported on
amd64 arm64 armel armhf i386 mips64el mipsel ppc64el s390x
plus inofficial ports to
alpha hppa m68k ppc64 riscv64 sh4 sparc64 x32
Impressive.

Maybe, somebody who has appropriate hardware can try to build gcl on
arm64? Or on some other arch missing in the Gentoo list?

Andrey
