I'm the maintainer of Smarty and, yes, things are quite hectic chez moi at
the moment. Sebastian, it would be great if you take over the maintainership
-- please update the metadata.xml. One of the reasons that Smarty has lagged
behind is that I'm not actively using it myself at the moment, so I wait for
bug reports to inform me of version bumps. The bugs generally get assigned
to php-bugs@g.o who sometime later assign them to me with the comment "not
ours". So it can take a while for me to learn about the bug.

Anyhow, all this should be solved once Smarty falls under the ownership of
the php/web-apps herd.
