Well, given what Gentoo is, a Linux (meta)distribution that while it 
generally does have quite good documentation (by the time it reaches 
stable, at least), it expects users to have some intellect and not be 
afraid to use it, and doesn't apologize for not doing any hand-holding 
(the typical saying, "If it breaks, you get to keep the pieces", if you 
can't/won't read them...

Think about it.  If you somehow mistakenly thought Gentoo was for you but 
you couldn't/wouldn't read docs, wouldn't you be trying to unsubscribe as 
well... and having problems because you /couldn't/ (or at least didn't) 
read the docs. =:^)

Face it.  There's a lot more folks that like the "we make what would be 
your decisions for you" Ubuntus and Macs of the world than like the Gentoos 
and the LFSs (Linux-from-Scratchs).  They'll be like a beached whale on 
Gentoo, and Gentoo really doesn't make any apologies for it, being quite 
happy to point them to Ubuntu, etc, if they're that kind of user.
