Every time I log in to my gnome desktop these days I get an error box saying:

Could not load Icon

Details: GIF image was truncated or incomplete.

There's no indication of _which_ icon could not be loaded. A search for more
details in .xsession-errors and by looking for a gnome foot with a "?" on it in
the various menus and panels turns up nothing.

What component is most likely issuing this error, and how can I find out which
icon it's having trouble with?

It would be very helpful if error reports such as this one were a bit more
explicit about the source of the error!
