If you use grub, then you can simply do the install to the proper hard
disk and just make sure your grub.conf points to its proper location on
the new machine.  The same with fdisk.

You should be able to build the entire thing on your main machine. 
Also, you might want to look into distcc, as you will be able to do all
of your compiling using your combined computing power, rather than a
single machine.
