Quick fix for the archives:

cd /var/tmp/portage/nautilus-2.4.2/work/nautilus-2.4.2/libnautilus/

then run:

/usr/bin/orbit-idl-2  --define=__nautilus_view_component_COMPILATION \
nautilus-view-component.idl -I/usr/share/idl

then redo emerge nautilus and continue with gnome build. 

worked for me :)
