sorry, but you're wrong here.

i have a sblive-5.1, and can play 5.1 sound fine with oss
(i am also using alsa, because oss is obsolete. i just wanted to say
that it IS possible).

if u don't believe me, simply set up oss, and do a "mplayer my.avi -ao
oss -channels 6" :-))))
